This exhibition follows Ethereum as a continuous story, from a fragile idea shared by a small, international group of people to a living network shaped by collective care. Drawing from archival materials assembled by historian Bob Summerwill, the narrative begins in the early days of what he described in his EDCON 2018 talk as “Making the Beautiful Dream a Reality,” when contributors were testing a belief: that openly written rules and programmability could enable new forms of global coordination without central control.
Visitors encounter active machines from the network’s formative years, offering a rare glimpse into its early operation. These living artifacts reveal a fragile, experimental network where infrastructure was improvised and persistence mattered.
The story unfolds through creative and interactive experiences, tracing key moments and turning points in Ethereum’s evolution. The exhibition’s thesis is simple but demanding: Ethereum is not finished. It is a system that grows through shared agreement and cultural commitment as much as code.
The narrative closes by turning outward. A final section reflects on the culture of decentralization and why it matters, inviting visitors to add their own diagrams, visions, and questions to an open notebook. In doing so, the exhibition frames Ethereum not as history alone, but as an ongoing experiment that each participant helps carry forward.
